CIL is a levy that Local Authorities can charge on new developments in their area.  The money should be used to support development by funding infrastructure that the council, local community and neighbourhoods want. Roxton Parish Council has received funds of approx. £10,000 from Bedford Borough Council; there are restrictions on what these monies can be spent on and we have to adhere to. The levy must be used to fund projects that “support the development” of the parish council’s area. This might include play space, open space, the provision of allotments and other community buildings, and other facilities. We are looking for ideas from Parishioners for suggestion on how we could distribute the CIL. We will be leaflet dropping the village for suggestions. These leaflets will have a tear off strip which needs to dropped off to Roxton Post office. Please feel free to contact any Parish council member whose details are available on the website at or via our Roxton Parish Council Facebook page.

BLACKCAT ROUNDABOUT & A428 CAXTON GIBBETT UPDATE: There was a meeting held in June where Highways England  outlined the progress to date. It is now understood that a decision will be made on the preferred route for the A428 and the remodelling of the Black Cat Roundabout by the end of 2018. We will post any developments on the Roxton Parish website The website also has all the information of the agendas for RPC meetings.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN:  Are there any local residents who would like to get involved in the way the village grows.  Communities can shape development in their areas through the production of a Neighbourhood Development Plan. It must be stressed that the policies produced cannot block development that is already part of Bedford Borough Councils Local Plan. What they can do is shape where that development will go and what it will look like. Please contact the Parish Clerk for more information.

DOG FOULING: Is again a major concern along all footpaths, footways and in the playing field. This clearly presents a health hazard in an area that is used by young children and is totally unacceptable. A Dog Warden has been actioned to highlight the issue by using neon spray, which will hopefully make offenders aware of how serious this problem has become. It also will involve the of taking details of anyone seen letting their dogs foul without picking it up and being reported.

ST NEOTS MUSEUM: Free entry for Roxton residents and surrounding villages. Open Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 4pm St Neots Museum, The Old Court, 8

New Street, St Neots, PE19 1AE Tel: 01480 214163

WARD FUND: Application for the Roxton Ward fund will soon be starting. Any resident or community group who wish to apply for funding should contact their local ward councillor, either by phone or e-mail requesting a donation by giving a brief outline of what they intend the money to be used for. This is submitted to Neighbourhood Support/Members Services at Bedford Borough Council, applying to use their allocated fund for a project within their ward. By e-mail on

DATES OF NEXT MEETINGS 2018/2019: All starting at 7.30pm.10th September, 12th November, 2019 14th January, 11th March and 20th May.
